Budapest's largest flea market is off the beaten track though, in spite of that for the tourists is worthy to visit here. On the swarming market not only the shopping, but looking around and searching is an experience.

Here everything can be found, everything is for sale: antique objects, violins, gramophones, books, chinas, coaly irons, carpets, old soda-water bottles, feathers, dinner services, coins, military relic, laces etc. The old copper mortars, buckled glass, tin soldiers, military honours quote back a disappeared world. It is not miracle , if the visitor feels, as if the time would have stopped here.

It is not allowed to omit the bargain from the game, since this is a rite of shopping. The shopper has to decide it, what is the maximum sum, which he is willing to pay for the chosen object.

    Open: Mon-Fr: 8.00am - 4.00pm Sat: 6.00am - 3.00pm Sun: 8.00am - 1.00pm

    Find a treasure

A fun way to get some souvenirs is at the Esceri Market. There are lots of old cameras, soviet medals, jewelry etc...

We bought a couple of old cameras which will be nice to display. We also wanted a little Herend souvenir so I bought a small frog.

Everything we bought I negotiated the price on. Bargaining is half the fun!

We just spent the last 2 hours with our GPS looking for the address 'Nagykorosi Utca 156. 1194 Budapest" - The location is on the main road but there is no access. We drove around and we can assure you that Budapest Esceri Flea Market is not at 156 but further past the roundabout. Should have taken public transport the written instructions are correct.

The Ecseri Fea market in the XIX. district, south of the city, is one of the best and biggest in Eastern Europe, and sells everything from Soviet army watches to Fred Astaire top hats.
