Heroes' Square - Hosok tere, Budapest

This was one of the first things I saw when I visited Budapest and this photo brings back some very fond memories. A wonderful monument.

The square was laid out in 1896 for the Millenium celebrations.

You can see Archangel Michael presiding over it and the collonades bearing the statues of historical Hungarian leaders.

Merita sa faci o baie la Szechenyi Furdo chiar si iarna. Apa este termala. Dar sa ai grija sa nu te apleci dupa sapun.

It was built in 1896 to the Millennium, but hadn't finished that time. The last few statue was finished at the end of 1920's.
It was named to Hosok tere on 2nd October 1932.

Walking up Andrassy Boulevard from central Pest takes you to Heroes Square, a celebration of Hungary's finest throughout the ages.

Giant square with statues of Hungary's ancient kings , ( blokes with long hair on horses and a giant column.
Also Budapests most famous unoffical skate park.

The spacious Hero's Square has a high and colossal column flanked by two circular facades with statues. The square serves as an ice rink in winter and inline sports in summer.

Go to Hero's Square! It's magnificent and very interesting. Also, the Museum of Fine Arts is just next to it :)
