Margarita bridge is another famous bridge after Chain bridge. It connects to banks of Danube river and the island of Margarita. Pity, I haven’t visited Margarita Island, but the history tells where Dominican monastery was in the 13th century and King Bella IV's daughter grew there and was canonized on this island too.

Later the island was named by her name. It is worth to visit this island too; surely I will do it, if I will have opportunity to be in Budapest again.

Designed by the famous French architect Ernest Gouin . It has an elegant, unobtrusive appearance, the Parisienne-stlye arch bridge forms an integral part of the surrounding landscape of Budapest. The bridge could be opened for traffic on 30 April 1876.
It was blown up during W11 and recontructed a couple of years later.

The Margaret Bridge gives the most stunning overview of the city. From left to right you can see the Parliament, the Chain Bridge, the Citadell, the Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion and the Mathias Church with lots of more nice buildings around them :)

And don't forget, there is also the Danube with it's nice bend...:)

I may have led a sheltered life but I was impressed by the three way bridge where the Chain Bridge passes Margaret Island.
You can drop below the bridge at the ned of the island (see photo).
You also get a great view of Parliament.

Margharet Bridge was built in 1876 with the part leading to Margaret island added in 1901. Like all other bridges over the Danube in Budapest, irt was destroyed by the retreating Nazis in 1944.
