The largest building in Hungary is the Parliament building in Budapest. Without question its one of the most beautiful buildings I have seen. Located directly on the Danube with its spires reflected in the river, Parliament is one photo opportunity no vistor or toursist can resist. The construction took 17 years and was completed in 1902. At that time it was considered the largest Parliament building in the world. I have read that it was modeled after Parilament in London and at first view you can notice a similiarity. The building also contains the crown jewels of Hungary. There are guided tours available. Tickets are not sold in advance and must be obtained at the time of your tour.
If you compare my picture to others of Parliament you will notice that the steps and landing in front of the building are under water. This was due to the flooding of Danube while I was in Budapest.

The Parliament is one of the most well known buildings in Budapest, and it is on many postcards. You will get a great view of the building from Castle Hill, on the other side of Danube. The Parliament building was built from 1884 to 1904. It’s built in a neo-Gothic style and its one of the largest parliamentary buildings in the world.
The national government sits here, but visitors are allowed to join one of the guided tours, to see some of the beautiful rooms and the Crown Jewels.

Budapest's most photographed building (not sure how this is actually measured) and in my opinion its most impressive is the Parliament Building, which stands on a great location on the banks of the Danube in Pest.
The best views of the building are from directly opposite at Betthany Ter in Buda, or from high up at Fishermans Bastion in Castle Hill, though it's impressive no matter where you view it from.
Up close it also looks good though I preferred the views from a distance. A combination of great architecture and a fantastic location on the riverside is what makes it so good. It reminds me in many ways of the Houses of Parliament in London.
Built at the end of the 19th Century, the building has over 691 rooms and is home to the Hungarian Crown Jewels. It's also the home of the Hungarian Government. Guided tours are available at various times throughout the day, with at least one daily tour in English.

The Gothic-style Parliament building (Orszaghaz) is a magnificent monument on the Pest side of the city on the east bank of the Danube River. Superficially, it resembles the Houses of Parliament in London. Constructed between 1884 and 1902, it was then the largest Parliament Building in the world. I had a panoramic view of the Parliament from the Buda Castle district on the opposite of the Danube.

The Parliament, at the side of Pest, is, for sure, one of the most beautiful buildings I´ve ever seen. But if you want to go inside, be prepared for a lot of disorganization. You have to pay only in cash ( they don´t take creditcards ). The line was not a real line, was just a crowd, at least in August it was. The guards demand your passport. So, after a wait of an hour and a half, we gave up and went to a bar in Buda to enjoy the view of the Parliament at the other side of Danube river.

The construction of Hungarian Parliament was initiated in 1884, at the time of dual monarchy. The decline of Austrian power, the growing dissatisfaction with Austrian rule and growing national consciousness, forced Franz Joseph, the Emperor, into negotiations with Hungarian nobility. As a result of a compromise, Hungary received self-government and the right to establish its own Parliament. The construction was over in 1902.
It is said that the building of Hungarian Parliament was inspired by English Houses of Parliament. I don't know if there is any resemblance because I have never been to London yet...But the Hungarian Parliament is really magnificent building outside as well as inside. The best view of the building can be had from the Castle Hill. To get inside of the Parliament, you have to take a guided tour held in different languages at specific hours. It is allowed to take photos inside.

We had a late lunch just around the corner from the Parliament building. A very photogenic building situated by the river Danube.
I suppose you get the best view from the other side of the river, on the Buda side. Looking out from the vantage point of the Fisherman's Bastion across the Danube, the flat Pest skyline between the Margaret bridge and Lánchíd is dominated by only one building - the Országház (Houses of Parliament).
Conceived and built for the millennium celebrations of 1896, the Imre Steindl design was only finished in 1902 (the year of his death). Inspired in part, by the Palace of Westminster, its white neo-gothic turrets and arches stretch for over 250 metres along the Danube embankment.
The building, which comprises of 691 rooms, immense halls and over 12.5 miles of corridors, has a central dome of 96-metres (precisely the same height as that of Szent István Basilica).
Like the Hoses of Parliament in London group excursions take place when Parliament is not in session, usually taking in the chamber of the former upper house (you can actually sit on the members benches). Each tour lasts approximately 20 minutes and flash/video photography is allowed.

The impressive building you can see across the river is 1 of the symbols of Hungary. It was constructed between 1885 and 1905.
This is 1 of the biggest Parliament buildings in the world. It's 268m long, 118m wide, 96m high and it has 691 rooms!

Impressive and big, the Parliament of Hungary. Inspired of the Westminster abbey in London this building was constructed. It's not that old but as it had to look both impressive and beautifull it ends up as a nice old building on the northern edge of the citycentre.
