Daytrips outside Budapest: Visegrad: Visergrag - where kings lived
Visegrad is a very small town located on the Danube bend.

The boat cruise to Viesegrad is something like 3 hours.
The city is very small and you will find here remains of an old castle and a beautiful view.

The climb to the castle can be difficult for little children or older people and another problem is that the city is full of wasps and hornets - while i was climbing the trail to see the view i saw most than 20 wasps that tried to attack me all the time - not a very enjoyable thing.

There is a nice restaurant called renaissance near the peir.

Cruise on the Danube is a must for every tourist in Budapest.

The view is beautiful during day and night - You will see the bridges , luxurious hotels , churches , Buda castle and buda hill , the parliament.

There are a lot of cruise offers - only around Budapest or to the Danube bend - from the hotels you will get a very expensive offer (can be 16000 Forint) while you will find local cruises in very cheap prices (2000 forint to the Danube bend).

The cruise to the Danube bend and Visegrad on Maharat Passnave cost me 2000 Forint while the hotel and the tourist company wanted 16000.

    Cave Chapel: Cave chappel
  • Tip Rating:
  • Cave Chappel (Gellérthegyi-barlang in Hungarian) is a small church in the area of Gellert hill that is built inside a cave.
Some people also call the cave Saint Ivan's Cave (Szent Iván barlang in Hungarian) because of a Hermit who lived in this cave and healed sick people.

After the place was closed for many years because of the communism , it is now open to public.
