Church of St Anne (Szent Anna templom) is a beautiful baroque church that was started to built in 1740 by the Jesuit Order but was completed in 1805, 32 years after the abolition of Jesuit order!
The beautiful façade is dominated by two symmetric towers and between them the symbol of Holy Trinity and two angels.
We got inside and realized that the church was packed with locals as the mass was in progress. The interior is in baroque style with beautiful ceiling frescoes, the one over the high altar shows Holy Trinity and dates from 1771 while the central one is from early 20th century. Unfortunately we couldn’t walk much closer to check the high altar.
While most of the people that will come to Batthyany square will come to take pictures of the huge parliament building , you should also pay attention to the lovely St. Anne church.
St. Anna church (Szent Anna Templom) is a lovely Baroque style church , that was built between 1740-1762.
You will see lovely statues , frescos .
Many thanks to fellow VTer Franklin for telling me which church this is! This is not St. Anne's, but the Reformed Church of Budapest. I never went inside, but it has a beautiful roof and makes for a nice photo if you're passing by.
St. Anne's Church is an imposing building just on the river not too far from the Castle area. It was built between 1740-1762, and contains a lovely fresco on the ceiling. It has a very fine pipe organ which is often used for recitals. In addition, if you go to a Sunday mass, you will hear a fine cantor and splendid organ music as well. The building is fully illuminated then, and you will be able to better appreciate the ornate decorations.
Inside the Szent Anna templom you can see a big cupola with paintings made by Pal C. Molnar and Bela Kontuly in the 1938. The painting on the chor was made by Gergely Vogl in the 1772. The altar with the statue of Saint Anna has got baroque columnse made by Karoly Bebo. In the altars in the sides of the church there are paintings made by Anton Eberhard and Franz Wagenschon.
This fantastic church was built by Kristof Hamon and Matyas Nepauer between the 1740 and 1758. The church has got a square shape and it was restored after the Second War World. The nice facade has got two great tower bell and statues made by Leonhard Eber and Anton Eberhard: in the centre of the facade there is the statue of Szent Anna and the coat of arms of Budapest.
The St. Anne Church is one of the most beautiful baroque buildings of Budapest. The construction of the church started in 1740, according to the plans of Kristóf Hamon, and was completed by Mátyás Nepauer in 1761. In the next 200 years the church suffered from wars, floods earthquakes, even it was planned to be demolished, owing to the construction of the metro network. Fortunately this plan was not realised, and the church was reconstructed between 1970-1984
Finished in 1805 nearly 60 years after it started, this church in Vizivaros is a great example of Baroque architecture.
