Finished in 1851, this is Budapest's largest church and is used for official government functions. It contains the holy relic of the hand of St. Stephen in a silver casket.

    The Holy Right

Located in the Chapel of the Holy Right is the mummified right hand of King Istvan which is preserved as a relic. Just press a button and it will be illuminated for two minutes.

    St Stephens at night

One of the most beautiful buildings in Budapest, in my humble opinion. Especially breathtaking at night.

St.Stephen's basilica is the biggest church in Budapest. Unfortunately, I couldn't get in 'cause it was already a night, but I was pretty amazed just looking at it and walking around.

    Front of St. Stephen's

City's largest church and a dominating part of the Budapest skyline. The inside was impressive but I only got a brief look before the priests chased everyone out for mass.

    Svent Istvans

The home of the mummified right hand of St Stephen. They chopped it off ehn they noticed it wasn't going mouldy like the rest of him. Still unlike St Gellert at least they did it afterhe was dead.

    On the top

Huge Basilika in Pest side. The tallest church in Budapest.
We can see it from everywhere, but the best view is from Buda hill over Danube.
In the cathedral the hand of St. Istvan is beeing kept.

The works of significant Hungarian artists of the period, among them Mór Than, Bertalan Székely, and Gyula Benczúr , ornament the inside of the church and the chancel.-

    St. Stephen's Basilica

Built in neoclassic style, it’s the biggest and most important catholic church of the city. You can climb to the top of the dome, where you can admire one of the most suggestive views of Budapest.

Hard to miss this 96 meter neo-Renaissance dome and to turn down its free admission though you can pay to visit the treasury.
