HEV* - from Batthyany ter/ or from Szentendre till Filatorigat (be sure to have ticket! controllers are freaking people on all stations this time!) BUS* - from 10pm till 6am there are special Island Buses. The ticket in 2003 costed 200 HUF (1 EUR). Stops: Island - Arpad Bridge Buda side - Margit Bridge Buda side - Nyugati Square - Octogon - Madach Square (almost Deak Square) (I've used this only once, other times it was so full we changed our mind! dont really recommend, only if you are short of money..) CAB* - mostly recommended (by me .. to go home during the night) Only Sziget taxi can go into the Island, and they have fixed rates. You can easily catch a cab during the night, sometimes you have to wait max 30 min.. find them at the entrance. BOAT* - Roxy Boat every day 2pm-24pm departing at Jaszai Mari Square (close to Margit Square). In 2003 costed 300 HUF (1 EUR) CAR* - sorry mates, NOT recommended! There is only a little road going to Island from downtown with a huge traffic jam this period, and parking capacity is unfortunately limited.... Leave a Comment Theme: Other

inside 200E Bus with LCD display on the top by VZ-Pam When you arrived in Budapest international airport Ferihegy, you can buy metro tickets from a newstand on one end of the terminal in the arrival hall as many VTers have mentioned - (Thanks!) It is a relatively small terminal compare to others, so you can find it easily. Buy at least 2 tickets (prices increases from time to time from my research & it is best to look at the current pricing from BKV web site) As of Feb 2009, a single ticket cost you HUF 290 You will see the bus outside when you get out ( As mentioned, it is not a big terminal) Punch 1 ticket in the little orange machine when you board the 200E Bus & the bus will send you to Köbánya-Kispest metro station as the final stop. Then you punch another ticket when you get into the Köbánya-Kispest metro station. Remember to punch the ticket even if you think no one is watching !! A lot of transit cops are waiting for you & fine you on the spot Bus driver will take cash but I was told usually cost higher than what a single ticket cost :) ATM is available in the arrival hall . You can also exchange money in the luggage pickup area. Leave a Comment

Many street names exist several times in different parts of BP. In order not to go to the wrong end of the city you need to know which district (kerulet) the address is in. This info is usually idicated by latin numbers, or, if you have the zip code, the kerulet number is the second and third digit of this. E.g.: 1089 would be Kerulet eight (VIII) 1104 would be Kerulet ten (X) Leave a Comment Theme: Other

another agency is "Stoppos" they don't charge a fee for their match-making :-) their webpage is mainly hungarian, but should be manageable. i have no personal experience with them, though. mail me if you have anything to say about them, cheers! Jó utát! Leave a Comment

there are car-pooling agencies in much of europe where motorists are matched up with travellers without their own means of transport by an agency. if you travel within or to/from hungary you might give it a try. it is definitely safer than hitching, can be cheaper and more flexible than public transport, and you meet nice people (and sometimes total %§!!!**% es) ;-) they charge you a fee, and tell you the maximum you should pay to the driver for gas contribution. in budapest they are called kenguru and they offer rides from/to all over hungary. check their website for details. i have used them twice, no worries there. good travelling!
