JANOS XSANTUS ZOO

The Zoo was opened in 1967 and at present hosts more than 500 animals from over 100 species in spacious, arres that recreate the animal’s natural habitat. Amongst the species that you can see are lions, bears, tigers, zebras, a giraffe and dwarf hippo. The Zoo’s terrarium hosts Hungary largest poisonous snake collection and is home also to a group of dwarf crocodiles. opening hours March - November Monday - Sunday 10.00 - 19.00
Bezerédj-Castle - Erzsébet Galgóczi Memorial Room

Permanent exhibition opened in 1991 in memory of the writer Erzsébet Galgóczi awarded the Kossuth-Prize. The memorial room in Bezerédj-Castle built in the 17th Century was executed from the heritage of writer, which was presented by the family to the town of Gyõr.
APOR EXHIBITION - THE PLACE OF MARTYRDOM

The exhibition keeps the memory of Vilmos Apor s martyrdom alive, presenting his life and works, his sacrifice and his martyr s death. Bishop Apor s devoted life and martyrdom is presented not only by excerpts from his diary but also with the aid of different relics, documents, music, light effects and various audio-visual means.
DIOCESAN TREASUR,LIBRARY AND LAPIDARY

The Treasury houses masterpieces of gold- and silversmithery, liturgical gems, and textiles, showing the religious art of western Hungary from the Gothic period until the 19th century. Codices, earliest printed books, and a collection of old Hungarian books are on exhibition in the Library. Stones and stone remains from the Bishop s Castle and the Cathedral in Gyõr, deriving from the medieval and modern times are on display in the Museum of Stonework. Outstanding works of art include: Anjou arms (14th century), fragments of a fontal basin (14th century), Gothic tracery window (15th century), and episcopal arms (16th-18th century).
PUPPET EXHIBITION - ZICHY PALACE

Permanent puppet exhibition donated by Mónika Wiedra Berzsenyi to the town of Gyõr. This fascinating exhibition is composed of 72 puppets, requisites, accessories and furniture. It presents the fashion of various eras and recalls the civil mood of the last Century by its conversation pieces
L WHITE SALON

The 17th Century system of dungeons under the former town hall - due to a true legend - where the petticoat white woman of Lõcse (Levoca in Slovakian) had been suffering imprisonment before she was finally beheaded in the main square of the time, now Széchenyi Square. The Foundation wishes to preserve and maintain this legend.
Exhibition of Margit Kovács

Life works of Margit Kovács, an expert in ceramics. Born in Gyõr (1902 - 1977). Chamotte engobe glazed ceramic sculptures, reliefes, articles for personal use and for decoration. Interior details from the atelier of the artist. Monumental building from the 17th Century. Previously inhabited by the grocer János Kreszta. Restored in 1977.
Archives of Miklós Borsos

Late gothic monument, rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th Century. Originally a courthouse of the bishop which was restored in 1979. Permanent exhibition of the sculptor Miklós Borsos. Ilona Kéry memorial room.
