They discovered the spring when drilled the rock in the sixties of 20th. MInerals from water settle down layer by layer and that is why the huge "flower" still grows. Its surface is hot and soft.
Around - pools, bistro, parking place etc.

6 kilometer south from Eger lies the little village Egerszalok. 2 km farther (road sign: "Hoforras") you can find an amusing phenomenon: warm-water springs and a huge quasi-stony creation, similar to an small iceberg or glacier. On the spot parking place, some stalls and sellers, three tiny seating pools (one for naturists) and the signed rout around the spring and the salty hill.
Water temperature: 65 C or even more, in pools about 35-40.
People sit on the grass and inside the pools, some of them stand under streams of water falling from the hill through a system of tubes.
Entrance is paid, but not expensive 100, at most 200 forints per person.

Have a bath in that medicinal hot water on a cold winter night. Bring some wine with you, and drink it while bathing. You'll need it. There's no locker room there (at least there wasn't any last year), you'll just have to leave your clothes on the grass, and get into the pool or cimb up to the water spings (it's forbidden, but still many people do it :-)).
When you get out of the pool, your clothes will be frozen by then. Don't worry: we've survived it, so you'll survive it too. .-)
