This is (kind of) large shop on two floors in the central district, at the Kossuth ter (where Synagogue and undergound garage - parking - place is) and we thought of being able to buy some Asian products (food!) since we were misleaded by the name but as we entered it was all about cheap clothes which smelled plastic and chemicals.
Well guarded with grim faced security staff whom follows you everywhere along shelves and yet, when they didn't watch I took a snap of this wall with lovely Chinese pictures and was then only chased out - by scarey looking bodyguard, telling me off in Hungarian, pointing his finger to the exit direction. Hehe.
Definitely not a place to go for serious shopping. Forget about the prices, it's not all about it.
Unique Suggestions: Don't go there.
Fun Alternatives: Buy quality products of local source.

On the Main Square and area around it there are a lot of dark face (I suppose they are Gypses) people chasing and asking for money.
Unique Suggestions: There is a very interesting history connected with the Monastery and Church of the Good Samaritans (on this picture). First it was the Paulites church, than the Capuchins and after Emperor Joseph 11. dissolved the order, the Good Samaritans have opened a hospital here. At present the building belongsto the Surgical Clonic of the Pecs Medical University.

Many of the religous places were neglected during the past regime, and they are in the process of reviving their former glory. We often left donations after visiting. Here we were stopped and asked to donate first, which we thought was rude, as it is a place of worship. We said we wanted to go in to pray, but were refused!!
Unique Suggestions: We got into a circular argument with the man.
He: you are rich Americans so you should pay. We: Not all Americans are rich. He: It cost a lot to get here. We: Yes, we spent all our money on travel. He: You have more. We: But we still have to pay to stay and eat, and travel the rest of the trip. He: No entry -- Go Away!
Fun Alternatives: Visit a friendlier temple and leave a donation at a place where you are welcome.

Contrary to the other poster here, as a fluent Hungarian speaker, believe me that the proper pronunciation of the city's name is: PAY-ch. Cheers!

Don't take just any taxi, OK? Volán taxi is a good company, phone number 72 - 333 333. Make up the price before taking off, and if you can, try to tip the driver - they are very thankful.
