or Danube Ipoly National Park in English
is just a hike away from Nagymaros.
You probably won't meet any other tourists,
only Hungarian hikers tops.
Some really smashing views and great
place that tourists never visit.

Take a pleasant stroll (weather permitting) from by the chain ferry terminal back in the direction of Budapest (South) and walk along the shores of the River Danube with the
Visagrad Castle on the other side of the river up on the hill. Great for chilling and soaking up the atmosphere. Pass by the Fekete Sas Resteraunt/hotel, they have seats outside with a great view. There are some public loos(WC) if you need. Also a small bufe where you can grab a snack or have a beer.

You can walk up the small streets
with their beautiful well kept gardens
and if you just wander around and explore
it shows a side of Hungarian life you won`t find in Budapest!
Once high up in the hills you will see views that make the whole
trip out of Budapest worthwhile. You will meet very few tourists.

I took the picture some years ago when I was with my daughter for a day trip up the
Danube Bend. We walked from the main church up the road to the Kalvaria which
means Calvary with the stations of the cross.There is a small church or chapel at
the top of the hill, maybe one of the best panoramas of the Danube Bend.

Nagymaros¤¤ One of my favourite towns in Hungary.
I will be writing some accounts of my visits here when I get some time about this beautiful Swabian settled village/town on the Danube Bend. One of the best views too in all Hungary.
