Streets in Vác
The streets in Vác, especially in summer is very pleasant. These streets are all environed by trees and little XVIII-XIX. century houses. None of them has more than 1 floor. so you feel that you are in a friendly little town. In fact Vác has about 32.000 inhabitants.
The Red house-a huge baroque building
Don`t miss to visit one of the most famous buildings of Vác, the Red house, built in 1731. If you come from the Train station, turn on the left at the Csányi körút and shortly you will see the siluette of this huge baroque building wich from itís construction was allways red. it`s originally was a kind of local costums house. Nowdays hosts different firms, restaurants and even a sport museum in more than 5000 square meters. It was built by italian workers (from Naples), brought in Hungary by the bishop, Mihály Frigyes Althann. They insisted that the building had to be red to remind them to Naples.
2 other catholic churches
As you could see in the previous tips, in Vác there are lots of churches. Here are two other churches. I could never enter in this neogothical to see, how the internal looks like, but I`m sure that it`s nice.
There are more of them, but this time I didn`t photographed them. This is why Vác is called often the "city of the churches".
