The Enclosed Market in BudapestThe food stalls are on the upper floor of the enclosed market. Sorry, don't remember the name, but it was a sort of sweet flat bread, with sour yogurt topping. You should try all the foods which are not familiar to you, you might be suprised at how many new foods you will like. (Just got a letter from 'Ostia' (11/2001)who lives in Budapest, she tells me the flat bread with yogurt is called LANGOS. Thanks Ostia.)
Hungary has terrific fresh produce if you time it right. May is cherry harvest, and they have those terrific Rainier type cherries that are so expensive in the U.S. They sell them in little paper cones so you can snack on the spot (beware of pits along the sidewalks). Be careful not to buy the little sour cherries that are used only for soups (a sweet old couple selling cherries on the streets of Szentendre, while I'm sure happy to have a sale, warned me that those weren't eating cherries by gesturing and making a sour face. i felt obliged to buy some anyway).

Try the cow stomach....it tastes good, but the texture is a bit odd....you can get it around the Balaton at many beach side stands or in Budapest at more traditional restaurants...
