Favorite thing: Listen to me, please. Whatever you do, where-ever you go, how-ever you feel just stay away from Síofok.
It is a nightmarish place for any traveller and the less time spent there, the better.
Siofok is full drunk Hungarian and Austrian muppets getting more and more beligerant as the night progresses. I was unfortunate enough to have to spend the night in a ridiculously over-priced campsite surrounded by crap music being played at an astonishing level. Throughout the night i was kept awake by the frequent cries of surprise from Hungarian drinkers returning to their abodes and accidently tripping over our tent strings.
It was not a pleasant experience.
Let me re-state; You do not want to visit Síofok, the land of spastics.

Favorite thing: Please click to enlarge, as my pictures are in a square format. I thought this a fitting memorial to the veterans of WWI. Instead of glorifying, it makes a statement about the absurdity of war, featuring a vulture to pick the bones of the dead.

Favorite thing: In Balaton the water is pretty warm, it was a joy to swim in compared to the freezing water in Ireland. I'm not sure about the water quality with so many resorts around, but as they say ignorance is bliss :o)

Favorite thing: Siofok does not appear to be too prosperous judging from this photo of where the people live. Maybe it was just my mood that day that made me take this photo.

Favorite thing: The Water Tower is the most striking erection in Siofok. In the USA our water towers are generally very ugly. This one is modern but not ugly.
