    Siofok beach

Siófok Beach is main reason for visiting this town. With famous Gold and Silver beaches Siofok become one of the most visited place at the shore. The lake itself is very beautiful but not deep witch suit for me. I think is probably nice place for learn swimming and I assume that many parents think so too because there is many family with small children.

I found accommodation in part of town call Újhely with short proximity to the lake and Silver beaches and Újhely beach was beaches that I visited frequently. It was easily accessible, free and not so chowed and noisily at that time.
I like area of Deak Ferenc setany even there is no special attraction there. Still it have all essential to have a nice time here.

It is perfect location for main square. There you can enjoy in wide pedestrianized zone with many touristic sights and sculpture.

The central point of interest is a famous Siofok Water Tower, with local touristic office and panoramic tour on top. For shopping there is huge contemporary shopping mall Sio Plaza. I find here many shops that I visited previous on this journey in Vienna and Budapest.
I like a big cultural center that is build on left side, you can visit temporary exhibits or visit local library.
All pedestrianized zone is separate in two parks area with many benches mostly under trees. It is good relaxing place. City traffic is constrained with underground passage.
There is many sculptures and monuments.

The Go Kart track has a lap length of 400 m and a width of 6 m which provides plenty of chance to overtake. The karts themselves have 277 cc, 9.5 h.p. engines and appear very quick, I say appear because there were 10 of us waiting to have a go, we paid, got our helmets, were next on and then down came the rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Needless to say we were given a refund, unfortunately because we were staying the other side of the lake we never got the chance to go back.

    Boat ride
    4 more images

There are many options of boat rides around Balaton Lake. We´ve chosen the quickest (around 40 or 50 minutes) and cheapest one that takes you to middle of the lake and brings you back. The views are very beautiful and stuff but if I could do it again I´d take a longer ride to Tihany or Balatonfüred...

There was a guy playing accordion (quite annoying actually!!!) and they served hot wine for us...

This is the most crowded area of Siofok´s beaches and you have to pay to get in. Here are the Coca Cola Beach House, nice bars on charming decks and the best area to sunbath.

When I´ve been to Siofok the city and the beaches were rather empty so I could get in for free. But I can picture the scene of these places in the summer...
