Trains to Siofok depart from Déli Station in Budapest. The trip lasts around 2 hours.
Be careful because there´re more than 1 train station in Siofok. After the main station, close to the city center, there´s the Balatonszeplacfelsö Station (I´m sorry if I misspelled the name, but I´m sure you´ll forgive me...!!!), on the Silver Coast.

We took the ferry across Lake Balaton on a grey and stormy day. There was some concern that the boat would not make the crossing. The ride was not that bad, and neither is it very long, as the lake is narrow, but wide. This is another picture of the memorial.

Hungary has a very good train system. You can get anywhere, so you will not need a car.
