The river Tisza has played a crucial role in the creation of Szeged and in its history. It continues to do so! Please take note of the driving warnings like this one!
The river was in serious flood at the time I visited, and a main riverside road was under water. As a result, the warning signs like this one were surplus to requirements.

Remember to aruge with the taxi drivers- if they know your a tourist to the area they will try to charge you too much money! Be careful!
