By trams

by hopang

Other than the local buses in the city of Budapest, trams are the most convenient means of transportation. They are also the fastest other than subway. Trams in the city of Budapest were inaugurated in the early 20th century and there are at least 30 lines in and around Budapest. Subway (Metro lines 1 to 3 or red, yellow and blue lines) only has three lines and many parts of the city cannot be travelled by subway. Buses are very often affected by the notorious traffic jams. Trams are running on their own tracks and are not affected by traffic jams at all. You can travel by any means of public transportation in the city of Budapest if you are a holder of Budapest Card.

Castle Hill funicular, Budapest

by hopang

Buda Hill funicular (Budvari Siklo in Hungarian) is located at Clark Adám tér at Buda end of the Chain Bridge. This is an old pendulum-type funicular which was inaugurated in the late 19th century. Nevertheless it is a great tourist attraction. It is certainly the fastest and easiest way to get to the Castle beside providing excellent photo opportunity. It costs 850 HUF per adult one way which is quite expensive for a short ride.

Buda's siklo

by DueSer

The siklo, or funicular, in Buda is a short but fun ride up and down Castle Hill. Originally built in the 1870s, this sadly was destroyed during WWII but rebuilt so we can enjoy it today. It's a great way to skip all the stairs up to the palace and enjoy a fantastic view of Pest on the way down.It costs very little and you can get a one-way or round-trip ticket. At the bottom of the hill, the funicular is at Clark Adam ter. It takes you up to just outside the Royal Palace.
