I would have liked to see the Romkert ruin garden, but because of a very heavy rain when I was on my way to the hotel, I had to take shelter for an hour in an entrance port, and so this garden was closed before I got there. However, it's a former bishop's garden that contains what's left of buildings constructed during the Roman occupation. Among...

  • Vonat -- Train

We bought a Hungary only rail pass before leaving on our trip. The Hungarians can not buy this type of pass. WARNING: The porters had never seen this type of pass and always had to get a supervisor before approving our travel, kind of a hassle, but at this price, it is worth the trouble.

Lulu took us for a tour in his automobile. His car runs on Benzine and has complicated levers to control the mixture. He drove very fast, and talked even faster, pointing out many interesting sights that I have no idea about. So fasten your safety belt and hang on.

Almost every way in the city can be shortened by gates and passageways. They can also be found in other cities, but I've never seen so many gates so well located! And some of them are really beautifull!

One thing I liked about Szombathely was the surprise. Wandering around the streets you never knew what would be around the corner. I like finding these shrines.

In the Iseum-temple, a great exhibition opened last week about its Egyptian cult and other religions known in Pannonia. Web-page: www.iseumsavariense.hu/
This isis temple was the 3rd bigest (in surface) known in the Romain Empire, and is a rare one excavated, reconstructed and its objects exposed, in a well explained context.
