Nice But Overlooked Town in Balaton Region
Although not on the lakefront, and thus not a major tourist town, we enjoyed using Tapolca as our hub for exploring the Balaton region in winter time (March, 2004)

Tapolca (say tapoltsa) is only 15 km's from lake Balaton (Badacsony), it has a nice centre with a water mill museum but the most important place is the karst cave...
