Somethimes you can see very high water near the Donaub (Duna) and the Tisza river. This is not so dangerous this time but looking good. In this time you can't use your car around. (Like on the picture) The water is dangerous because too cold and dirty. Don't drink from the water!

The golden rule of Hungary is CHECK YOUR CHANGE!!! This is perhaps one of my favourite countries of all time, however they will try to keep hold of a few of your Forints for themselves, not that you can blame them.

The ladies travelling with Hungarian trains should be warned. The toilets are dirty and completely out of order.Another particularity of Hungarian lady toilets in general is, that there are no locks on the doors. So ladies, you are warned now!

Hungary has a dominating continental climate. Winter can be cold and summers hot, sometimes very hot, like this year. If you have to cycle all day long under a burning sun, it is absolutely necessary to drink much. In temperatures of 30° to 37° C we drank to 5 litres a day.

Always, I said *always* buy tickets at the trams (2nd, 4th and 6th line, especially) and at metros! I you haven't got a ticket you've to pay a fine of ca. 3600 HUF (25 DM appr.)There's a controll almost always at Deák Square (metro line 1,2,3 at Budapest) There isn't any health problems or dangerous foods, maybe the Hungarian spices can beat you...

Restrooms: "F" is for men!

by iblatt

When you are looking for restrooms, do not be tempted to think that "F", or Férfi, means females or women: "Férfi" means Men!The word for women in Hungarian is "nõk", and "women's WC" is "nõi WC".

TALKING TO THE LOCALS!

by Duffelgirl

Don't let your boyfriend loose on the locals. Just look what happened when Greg spoke to a Hungarian in Eger (just under the castle) - bored him rigid!!!

Keep your Credit Card

by BostonSeto

I was told that it would be easy for people to copy your credit card number. To be safe, try to use cash whenever is possible

Don't leave lugguage

by IngaA

Locals told me that I should not leave the lugguage alone. They know better, of course, so I just repeat the advice of Hungarians
