Rail travel around the country is very slow.
Unless you know Hungarian (very unlikey if you aren't a Hungarian national) or German you will probably encounter language problems. We found very few people who spoke English.
Grumpiness - Hungary is a grumpy nation. Don't take it personally.
English is not spoken by everyone.
You shouldn't look for the cheapest accomodation, because in Hungary there are toilets which can't be locked from inside ... and sometimes there's no paper.
Not really a danger, but when you make phone calls within Hungary from one area code to another, or from a cell phone - start with 06 before the area code, or you won't get through anywhere!
