Kaffi Akueryri is always full of people. It´s a good café in the day, but transforms in the evening to a lively nightclub. It cost´s 500 IKR to get in but it´s worth it! Always fun and always a lot of people, this is Akureyris most sucessful bar! The music is light pop dance music. Very good security and the age limit is 20 years. Dress rather nicely for this one, more nicely than Foster´s or Sjallinn...
Café Amour is a nice modern café and bar. There you can get the best cup of coffee in town. In the evening they open up the upper floor which has a nice dance floor and good music. A cosy place where you can dance and chill.
Karolina is my favorite café, where I spend a big part of my day. The customers include Akureyris actors, artists and pot-smokers. Always cosy and nice, especially on the second floor, though it may not be the hottest dance club. It also has a very good luxury restaurant. Just come as you are.
Mr. Fosters is a bar and club for young people, 18-24. They have cheap spirit´s and often good DJ´s with Techno and House like on Dátinn. It´s a very small place. You can come to Foster´s dressed as you like, and the guards sometime´s forget to ask for ID´s.
Sjallinn is the only real nightclub in Akureyri, it has three floors and always plenty of fun! In the basement there is a sport pub called Sportið, it´s small and not attractive. When you enter Sjallinn, you walk up the stairs to a bar and sitting room to your right, but a large room on your left where Iceland´s hottest pop groups provide the music every weekend. On the top floor there is a techno style nightclub called Dátinn, where DJ´s spin techno, house and drum´n´base records. It has two bars and a large seating area where DVD concerts are sometime shown on a projector.The age limit is 18, 20 on selected nights. This is a very casual place. Just dress nicely and do like the Icelanders; Don´t think about the weather, we are vikings and we don´t get cold! If we get cold we just drink more.
theres good nightlife here,especially on a holiday weekend! we went in the 'sports bar' and graeni hatturinn, both ok, about 550kr for a beer!
A traditional pub, where the beer flows and the vodka drips. This is the quality place where the older people go. Live music and always a lot of people.
The only shop in Akureyri open all night, stop by here and grab a hamburger before taking a taxi home, or buy sprite or tonic to blend the alcohol.
