On the coast, stop and see the Reykjanesviti lighthouse. Enjoy the views of the sea. On a clear day, you can see all the way to a small island about 10 miles off the coast of the Reykjanes Peninsula, Eldey Island. This island is about 1 square mile, and rises out of the sea to a height of 250 feet. Its sheer cliffs are home to large numbers of birds, including the largest gannet colony in the world.
