The Viking Circle/gallery on the Old norse belief.

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There is a gallery in a quaint little house in the middle of the lava area just outside of Hafnarfjörður. We went on a Northern light tour and the guide on our tour turned out to be one of the owners of this gallery, and he gave us the guided tour of his gallery which is an art and educational center.

This gallery is called Víkingahringurinn or "The Viking Circle" and is a gallery on "The belief in the old Nordic gods" or the belief of our ancestors the Vikings. There is a very interesting scale model there on a theme-park called Sagnagarðurinn or "Sagagarden" based on the mythology, which the owners are planning on building. It explaines the 9 different worlds of the mythology. The owners claim this gallery to be the most "comprehensive gallery of Northern-Europe’s ancient culture, history and beliefs" in the world.

They also made Tarot cards called "Tarot of the North", which they made in a limited edition and sell at the gallery plus books on Elves, æsirs and humans.

The gallery has only been open for ca 3 years and is open by appointment. Just phone one of the owners and make an appointment.

The gallery is located at Straumur, next to the ÍSAL aluminium smelter in Straumsvík just outside of Hafnarfjörður by Reykjanesbraut road, 35 kilometers from Keflavík airport.

At the gallery. The gallery-shop. The scale model of the theme-park. The gallery Tarot Norursins - Tarot of the North.

    Moutain Taxi -

This is a company that will take you to these exciting arctic trips in Iceland.
they are unique in the places they go to with their monster jeeps on the ice and snow.
you can have incredible short runs of a day or even half days or ...you can have a few days expeditions , we went to an expedition of 6 days and had the best time .
Their web site is incredibly informative and gives you a taste of the trip itself .
    Highly recommended !

    Kopavogur Church.

We stopped off to look at this odd looking church in Kopavogur. The number one bus from Hafnarfjordur to Reykjavik passes it.
