Take a dip in the Blue Lagoon....
Take a dip in the Blue Lagoon. It is actually the effluent hot water from the Svartsengir Power Plant. This hot water was originally seawater that has been naturally heated by the underground lava. While I am on the subject of powerplants. Iceland is one of the least polluted countries in the world due to the fact that nearly all their energy is geothermal! The very little polllution they have is from automobiles. Even that pollution is not much because of its small population!Swimming in these beautiful blue waters is a unique and invigorating eperience! Imagine swimming outdoors with snow all around you in this giant hot bathtub with steam rising up! Very cool! It is open in the summer daily from 10:00am until 10:00 pm. Hours vary off season. The cost is approximately $4.50 US For more pictures ,check my travelogue.
