Icelandic Horses

Icelandic Horses are a special breed of small horses bred especially for the uneven terrain of Iceland. There are the size of a pony but able to carry large loads.

This is the way icelander authorities like to remind motorists to take care and drive safely.
We saw several of these around the trip.

Smell ya later

Like in many other countries, your not allowed to wear your shoes in the house. So if you don't want to insult you hosts, take them off.

Icelandic sheeps

Sheeps roam free in Iceland, reminiscent of Ireland or Scotland! Watch out when you drive around.

Art in Reykjavik

Everywhere you go in Iceland, you will see two things- waterfalls and public art. How such a small country can produce so many good artists is fairly baffling. Maybe it's the water.

typical icelandic traffic sign

A local speciality, tasting quite bad... it is shark-meat that is burried for a few months, or hung outside. Very nitrogen-rich and keep something at hand to drink or eat to get rid of the taste...

You will find Icelanders very proud of their country and more than willing to share their enthusiasm with foreigners.
