Mt. Valahnúkur

by snorril

Mt. Valahnúkur rises up at the tip of Reykjanes. This hill accommodates a lot of sea birds and gives a nice view of the surroundings. Beware the cliffs fall horizontal from the edge, not for those afraid of heights.I don't have any complete picture of Valahnúkur but trust me it looks nice. The picture is of the beach. The stones are all big and rounded and this must be man-made. Why they made this beach like that I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong?

Austurengjahver hot spring

by snorril

If you are up for a small walk park your car at Lake Grænavatn and head for Austurengjahver. It isn't that spectacular but quite nice and the views are fine. It takes about 30 minutes each way.Remember walking is good for your heart.

Lake Grænavatn

by snorril

Grænavatn (Lake Green) is a small waterfilled crater. It has a greenish touch to it (see picture) hence the name. Last known residents are Mr. & Mrs. Swan and their offsprings (See Mr. Swan in intro page). Beware, Mr. Swan doesn't like visitors.

Gunna

by snorril

Reykjanes at the tip of the peninsula is yet another geothermal area. The hot spring Gunna (a popular Icelandic nickname) is the biggest. You can see the lighthouse at Reykjanes in the back of the picture.

Lake Kleifarvatn

by snorril

Lake Kleifarvatn is just outside Hafnarfjörður town, on the way to Krísuvík.The lake has a black sand beach with interesting cliffs and beautiful surroundings. We stopped there to allow our dog to run loose and have a little fun.
