Favorite thing: To emphesize the cleaness of Reykjavík people often point out that through the middle of the city runs an active salmon river, Ellliðaár.

Another slamon river, Korpa, is on the outskirts of the city.

Fondest memory: I have never tried to fish in Elliðaár but the river normally yealds over 1000 salmon during the 3 months season.

The valley, Elliðaárdalur, through which the river runs, is a very popular hiking place among locals.

    Wildlife and Nature

Favorite thing: What I loved most about Iceland was how pristine and how abundant it's wildlife was. Iceland has in fact become a major eco-tourism spot. When visiting, please be sure to leave the animals alone and stick to marked roads. Irreparable damage to the ecosystem is very easy to do. Enjoy it as it is. There are very few places on Earth that are still so untouched. You may need to get outside Reykjavik to enjoy all this, but it's all well worth it!

Fondest memory: My fondest memory of Iceland was my drive from Reykjavik to Ísafjörðdur. The road was about 40% unpaved and we drove up and down numerous fjords. At one point, we were stopped while they detonated a part of the rockface. This of course was to prevent rock slides. The explosion was cool. Driving in Iceland is filled with so many unexpected pleasures. One example is encountering the Seljalandsfoss. Not only was it unbelievably beautiful, but I got to walk behind it.

Favorite thing: If you want to experience something totally different take a guided day tour to Greenland. There are tours everyday from Reykjavik airport, you leave at around ten in the morning and come back at six in the afternoon. It's totally different from Icealnd and it's not far away. go to

Fondest memory: Something impresses me most about Reykjavik is its blue sky and green land. You always feel the sky is so close to you here. And the green land always gives you something so fresh, so impressive. I should say, you can't feel more comfortable here. It is just so so peaceful!
