Fishing is Iceland's most important industry. There economy depends heavily on fishing yet only a small percentage of the population actually work in the fishing industry. Nonetheless, almost every coastal town, city, or village has a fishing fleet. An amazing figure is that about 75% of Iceland's population lives in Reykjavik and the economy which depends so heavily on the fishing industry is manned mostly my habitants of coastal communites and not Reykjavik per say.
Be sure to try the fish in Iceland, it's delicious!
