Tjornin, Reykjavík Region
Tjorn is a small natural lake that you can find in downtown. It is very interesting because you can see a lot of birds. Near Tjorn there is the Old City Hall that is very nice; there is Domkirkja, the oldest church in Reykjavik; and there is Austurvollur, the square of the city.
Tjörnin or "The Pond" is the little lake within the city of Reykjavik. It was almost completely frozen over when we were there, but one corner was kept open by fervent swimming of all the swans, geese and ducks in the city! The church building in the distance now features an art gallery.
Bring some bread crumbs and feed the ducks, geese and gulls at Tjörn. A delight for children and nice for adults, too! Cures hangovers to sit on a bench here and bird- and peoplewatch.
The Tjörn is a lovely lake in the center of Reykjavik. It´s worth walking around for some nice views of the city. You can also take a look at the very modern City Hall right at the edge of the lake.
This the lake in the center of downtown Reykjavik. Go see the many ducks and geese that call it home.
