I had amazing tour in Iceland this summer, 2009 as i am in wheelchair i travelled with All Iceland Tours to Vík In Mýrdal.
The town is amazing and the people are so friendly. I was almost able to go where ever i wanted.
The beach is a must see and so are waterfalls the Seljarlandsfoss, Skógarfoss.

    The Vik Church...

    The Vik Church, Iceland

In Icelandic, this church is called Vikurkirkja. This church was designed by Gudjon Sameulsson.
One of the first Icelandic architects & built by a local carpenter by the name of Matthias Einarsson...
This would be my last photo inside this beautiful church.
Another stain-glass window, again geometrical designs of some fish & a chalice...

A closer look of the stain-glass windows, one of them...
To me the design is very arty & geometrical !
All have references to the holy scripture...

There was nobody around when I was in there so i had the time of my life taking these photos, not that I would be prohibited.
The glass windows : Very beautiful as they are !
They were sanctified on the 15th June 1997 by the bishop Sigurbjorn Einarsson; These work of art are made by the artist Hrafnhildur Agustsdottir who lives & work in New York.

This church was built in 1930 to 1934, but it looks so new to my eyes ! Maybe everything is well-tidied & well-kept.
Now I took this photo, the pipe organ...which is a classic, 11 voice organ with 2 sound boards & a pedal.
It was carved by Sigridur Kristjansdottir from Grund.
The tuning of this pipe organ was also assisted by the company Marcusen & Son from Denmark.

Now, I took this photo, the altar...The painting was painted by Brynjolfur Thordarson, which is a copy of the original by Carl Block.
On this photo, you can also see the candlesticks which are used during christening & funerals...

    The Vik Church, Iceland

This is the photo of The Vik Church, situated on a small hill overlooking Vik village...
Very beautiful, contrast colours amidst the blue sky, the greenery, the mountain sceneries...& the purple plants scattered all over the grass around this church !
    Let's go inside !
