  • O'Connors Pub: O'connor's

by TheBlueEyedGirl Written Feb 16, 2014

O'connor's pub is just amazing! The people are so friendly and welcoming like your just one of them, the music isnt just played on a stage and everyone sipping pints, its in the middle of the people. People are dancing and singing like they haven't a care in the world. I have never walked in at night-time and it empty, oh no, it does be absolutely jammed! I would advise if you want a quite place to drink a pint head down to Fitzpatrick's at the other end of doolin, but if your want to have the craic, in a safe, welcoming environment head on down to O'connor's in the heart of doolin! Its beautifully built and in the inside its just... wow! Their is an amazing disply of dollers, stickers, badges and pictures not leaving a space of the wall empty. If you play an instrument such as a guitar or accordian I would advise bring it to join in or play our own tunes with a crowd in a different corner. You honestly can visit doolin without a trip to O'connor's! Not that anyone would drive by the spectacular building without wanting to have a look inside. Warning- once you walk inside you'll neverwant to leave.

Dress Code: Dont go waring a big aran-knit jumper you bought in the shops in doolin as it pretty hot in their.

    O'Connors Pub: Great music

We were in Doolin for 2 nights and both nights ended up here. First off it was walking distance to our BNB and second..it was alot of fun. Oconnors can get really packed on nights they have live music but if you show up early you shouldn't have a problem finding a table. We had a drunk Irish kid come sit with us at our table and he entertained us pretty much the whole night lol They stopped serving the food really early and it was not anything to talk about.

Gus O'Connor died in the beginning of 2003 and the new owner tries to set the tradition further, that Gus started and made Doolin so famous for it’s life music.

We had a great evening there, sitting close to the musicians (a table became vacant) and we occupied it with an English family and an Swiss-English couple. We had a great time listening to the musicians playing, enjoying our beers and talking to the happy campers.

    O'Connors Pub: Irish Hospitality

This place rocks!! We stopped at the pub for just a couple of beers during our golf trip, not expecting to stay, as we had an early tee time. Much to the chagrine of one of our foursome, we got sucked up in the atmosphere and hospitality of the crowd, and didn't leave until the wee hours of the morning. The bartenders were great...and patient with us drunks. You can't help but meet a ton of people in this place, and if you don't have a good time here, then you won't enjoy any bar in Ireland.

    O'Connors Pub: O'Connors

This is where everything is happening in Doolin. It is located on the main street in Doolin (you can’t miss it). It has some pretty good pub food and is a place where the whole town (as well as many tourists gather). There is often live traditional Irish music playing at nights.

McDermotts, McGanns and O'Connors: Ceol agus Craic

by Waoife Updated Feb 17, 2004

There are 3 pubs in Doolin - O'Connors down near the sea and McGanns and McDermotts up the road in the second village.

All 3 have traditional Irish music sessions every night in high season and at weekends during the Winter - the perfect companion to a pint!

In winter a hot port or toddy (whiskey) by the fire is a my favourite :)

To truly experience traditional music, O'Connor's is a must. Get there early to get a good seat and enjoy the craic.

    Banging on the Bodhran

The band starts at 9:30 and plays until they're finished. Look for the sign "Reserved for Musicians" and if it's above your table, go sit somewhere else!

    O'Connor's Pub

There's traditional Irish music almost everynight at all 3 of the pubs. It gets pretty crowded in them, though, so be warned!

Dress Code: Whatever you want. It's Ireland!
