The Magnetic Music Ltd, a record company has a rather superb cafe attached to it?s music store. With a quite walled garden at the side this is the perfect place to recover from the previous night?s Guinness excesses.
Drinks are also catered for with the local beer ? Black Biddy Early ? a fruity stout and wines such as Sancerre Domaine Bouchard and St Joseph Le Grand Pompee Jaboulet.
They also have a CD of the day from their store playing , available at a discount.
Favorite Dish: Of particular note is the mix of Mediterranean delicacies ? a selection of sun-dried tomatoes, pickled wild onions, articoke hearts, olives, courgettes, and peppers served with baked bread and butter and Italian salami or Irish cheeses. (7 Euro)
Mc Gann is an authentic Irish pub, when you get into the door, you will see the bar and the pub. Look at the menu on the wall or above the bar and make your choice. We went for the Irish Stew and because it was our first meal on Irish soil, we also ordered our first and last Guinness.
It’s a very good meal.
The locals recommend this place now above Gus O’Connors, that has a new management and is more into the bus thing at the moment.
McGann's Pub is situated on the Main road in Doolin. It is a stone cut building, much like many pubs you will find across Ireland. You will find traditional music there almost every night.
That being said, you will have to get there early to find a table and enjoy all of the Craic!
The guiness is always perfectly built and the Jameson is plentifully poured, Slainte!
Favorite Dish: One bowl of McGann's Irish stew will feed two people, of avergae appetite, adequately. The rich, thick gravy is flavorful and needs little added seasoning. The vegetables, carrots and green beans, are cooked to perfection. The chunks of meat are tender, flavorful and plentiful. Their stew is unique, as they mound mashed potatos in the center and then pour the rest over the top. It comes with crusty bread and is reasonably priced for such a large portion.
Quick cheap pub meals are on the menu. Don't over look them, service is quick even though the pub can be crowded on Monday evenings when they have a live band playing traditional Irish music.
Favorite Dish: You just have to tast the Irish Stew, served with fresh home-made bread.
