    The Abbey Tavern: Great Food!

by elmendorfs Written Sep 9, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Directly across the road from Quin Abbey, this local pub is very convenient. The atmosphere was lively even in the early evening, and even though we didn't have to wait for a table, it was fairly crowded and we sat in the bar area rather than the dining room. The food was excellent, but the service left a lot to be desired. Fortunately we were easily entertained by "Shrek" on the tv near the bar, and people watching, so the time was bearable. We'd be glad to go back again but probably wait for a table in the dining room if we were planning to order food.

Favorite Dish: We only had salad and appetizers, but they were great.

Keating's Pub: Can't miss it, it's all there is!

by elmendorfs Written Jun 30, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Keating's is the last business in Kilbaha as you drive from Kilkee to Loop Head Light House. It is a delightful family run pub right on the water looking across the Shannon River. Helen and Bernie Keating were wonderful and helped us locate the Moonlight House B&B in Quin for our last night before flying home. This is truly a 'local pub' in every sense of the word. Unfortunately, we missed the live music, but local rumor has it that Bernie is quite the musician in addition to his bar tending talents!

Favorite Dish: We typically stopped in for tea, but on the occasion when we had lunch, their home made vegetable soup was excellent!

    Left Bank Bistro
The best food I had in Ireland (outside Dublin!) and the place is very stylish!

Favorite Dish: Banoffi Pie - a wonderful banana and toffee cake (hence the name ;-). The Tandoori chicken sandwich is delicious as well!
