Durty Nelly's is ok, but don't go out of your way

by donpaul77

Durty Nelly's Pub may be the most famous Irish pub outside of Dublin, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. While it is well located next to Bunratty castle, and is hundred's of years old, it's not really a great place to hang out, especially if you are seeking the Irish pub experience. The problem is that it can be really busy and mostly filled with tourist. Nothing against tourists, of course, but it detracts from that idyllic Irish pub ambiance that is so special. Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting enough pub, and if you are at Bunratty castle, you should drop in, just to see the old parts of the structure. On a nice day, you could take your pint outside. Mac's Pub in the folk park is actually a nicer pub, though still touristy. You may just go exploring a bit, and you are sure to find a cool, quiet pub.

And around that simple fact they constructed a gigantic program, light-effects in the cave etc.Under all of the Burren there are several caves, BUT Aillwee Cave is the only one that you may enter :Aillwee Cave is open for visitors dailyall year long after 09.30a.m.entrance-fee is 10 Euros / children : 5 Euros !see their web-page : www.aillweecave.ie Aillwee Cave is a good place to have a rest, use the toilette, park your car on a large parking, cook a meal inside your motorhome or go to the tea-room of the cave... Hike as much as possible through the beautiful and interesting Burren - BUT Aillwee Cave DOES NOT show at any...
