    Blarney Woollen Mills: Nothing Special

by Gillybob Written Oct 22, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Research had suggested that a bargain or two could be obtained at this converted mill. However, I was totally disappointed to find a very commercial store containing mass-made clothing, household items and souvenirs.

If you have time to kill, then feel free to visit but, in my opinion, its not worth going out of the way for.

What to buy: Anything mass-produced that you fancy.

What to pay: Prices are average. Not particularly more expensive but certainly no cheaper either.

The World famous Blarney Woolen Mills is one of the largest family owned and run gift and craft centers in the World. Besides the store, there is a branch of the A.I.B Bank, Christys Bar and Hotel. There is a fine self- service restaurant and parking facilities. This 30,000 square foot retail store is housed in one of Ireland's oldest and most authentic Irish woollen mills.

It's a very large store stocking all the best quality of Irish goods from different styles of Irish sweathers to Celtic jewlery.

Their motto: For the best quality at the right price!

    Store hours:
    Mon. - Sat. 9.30 am - 6 pm
Sunday 10 am to 6 pm

What to buy: A traditional store full of classic clothing and gifts; great names like Waterford, Lladro, Belleek and many more fill the giftware shelves, alongside traditional Aran sweaters and fashion garments in the clothing department.

What to pay: The Donegal sweater was a third of the price of what it would cost in the US.
