Avoid Overintoxicated Leperachauns
Irish people have a reputation for being charming but like most people, when drunk ,they can be extremely unpleasant. At around two or three in the morning when clubs are emptying, the streets can be noisy and rowdy with drunken brawls breaking out. I would advise women not to walk alone late at night and when walking to stick to the main streets.
The danger of being assaulted or worse is slim if people use common sense. However as in most cities, assaults and rapes do occur occasionally so be careful.

Alcohol could be expensive especially if you get a fine. I found this warning sign along the Liffey River... so stay safely inside the pub to enjoy the local pints and priceless Irish atmospere!
Save your money... Drink with moderation!

Cork Graffiti Demo...
The local graffitis were not very colorful or stylish but useful as a local gourmet guide... so I was pleased to learn that the cook was not very recommended at the local prison.
In fact this graffiti was the most efficient way to avoid criminality ;-) Just think about it if the food is not on the top how could you imagine a stay there? A great review soon online under jailtripadvisor... of course avoid an one way in any case!
Have a look to my restaurant tips for some alternative ;-)

Although i can't stress enough how friendly cork is overall it must still be said that like all irish cities there are certain things you should be careful of. The centre of cork is very, very busy every weekend at night so there are people trying to start fights etc. walking home by yourself should be avoided especially in the barrack street area or in general if walking far from the city centre late at night, having said this most of us will be only too helpful with directions etc at any time.
These are the unsavory aspect of cork, ims ure they live everywhere in different names and places.. in dublin they are skangers..in glasgow neds....it depends on where you go what you call them they can usually be spotted with their shell suits on and large gold rings on their fingers...theya rent all abd but i havent met many nice ones in cork some areas its ahrd to avoid them same as anywhere else just be warned about them on ngihts out they usually travel in packs with the ickles one tryin to start and starting on someone unsuspecting of his ten friends around the corner jsut waiting ofr you to give him a beating and they wont back off... i ahve met soem great ones adn i consider them froeinds for life and you cant always spot them by what they wear but its just the dangers of traveliong anywahere really look at ffor a sports cap with its peak pointing way towards the sky its usually a good sign and huge sovergein rings on fingers and chunky chains hangin off their necks....they usually say fiend pronounced feen or girrrrrrrrl yeah tahts about it
Avoid the Wash!
Be careful at week-ends, Thursdays onwards. The nightlife tends to spill onto the street. And that's not all that spills! Washington Street and Grand Parade areas are scary places to walk, and even to drive. There are so many young people drunk in the streets, it's not funny.

Iarnrod Eireann the National Rail Carrier
Stay Away from Mallow rail station other wise known as "Mala". The Station Master has a gripe with Disabled Travellers, and these form of people are not welcome at his Station.
I have felt the brunt of his barking and was forced to hitch a ride home eventhough I got Free Travel as a result of my Disability.
Mallow is between Cork and Limerick and is the gateway to the Kerry Kingdom of ireland. Find other methods of travel ,Bus or Plane.
This may be a general tip,...
This may be a general tip, really, as it applies just about anywhere you go, but Cork was the only place in Ireland where I had to deal with pickpockets. If you use an ATM, make sure you guard the cash dispenser slot and watch out for various unsavory characters hanging out nearby. Unless you feel like going for a nice run chasing down your money once they grab it, of course...
it's a city
basically it is a city and that carries the problems that are present in all cities. late night drinking can lead to so congregating around fast food outlets after the pubs/clubs close which have led to fist fights. basically avoid this time for a burger
