The East Village is part of a relatively new development in the centre of Douglas village. (There are very good directions on the website.) It offers a lively sports bar atmosphere downstairs and more of a restaurant feel upstairs. It also offers accommodation. It is child friendly.
I find the bar can be a little loud at times, so I prefer to eat there when the restaurant is open (Lunch and Dinner). Try to get one of the boots near the windows for more secluded eating (which is helpful if you are eating sloppy chicken wings - see below)
Drinks are averagely priced and there are some specials on cocktails some nights.
Favorite Dish: Well there is no two ways about it - it has to be the chicken wings! They are deep fried in a very light batter with a choice of four sauces - mild, wild, suicidal or insane! Don't let their un-PC names put you off. I usually go for suicidal and find them just hot enough. However you may prefer to err on the side of caution and go wild your first time. They are then served with a soured cream dip on the side and refreshing strips of celery on top. They are available as a starter for 7.95 and as a main for 10.95. They are also often included in money saving meal deals and early birds menus. Me and my boyfriend sometimes just go for a large portion and share.
Anyone I know who has tried them has agreed that they are fantastic. And if anyone can figure out the recipe for the sauce - send me an email - I will pay for it!Related to:
