  • Luigi Malones

    3 out of 5 stars

    Cork Restaurants

Yes, Luigi Malone was a real person and there is a large photo of him inside on the family wall. This beautiful restaurant surprises you the second you enter through the mahogany French doors. Right in front of you is the original station clock from Kings Cross Station (London) which was once at the entrance of the Great Eastern Line. One of the...

  • Fishy Fishy Cafe

    3.5 out of 5 stars

    Kinsale Restaurants

This restaurant is DEFINITELY for seafood lovers but they do have one chicken dish also. Dining there recently I saw three people of a table of four having the chicken dish which is testament to the tastiness of everything on the menu. The atmosphere is absolutely great- you feel that you are on holiday- even when you aren't! The clams are...

  • The Gingerbread house

    4 out of 5 stars

    Cork Restaurants

I spotted this on the reviews and thought I should share the sorry news, The Ginger Bread House is no more. Sometime in 2006 (I think) they closed for renovations - and never re-opened - and well is it missed. It was a ramshackle place with odd chairs and tables. You could sit for house over one pot of tea and write your memoirs. Emo kids sat...

  • Man Friday's

    4.5 out of 5 stars

    Kinsale Restaurants

In recent years Kinsale has seen an influx of wonderful modern gourmet restaurants clamouring to outshine the old favourites. Man Friday's is one of those golden oldies and, in my opinion, it is superbly holding its own. One could be forgiven for missing the entrance, tucked away as it is on a street corner of what appear to be secluded private...

  • JACOBS ON THE MALL

    4.5 out of 5 stars

    Cork Restaurants

I had my wedding at jacobs on the mall, it was low key, and so romantic. They even had a wedding cake made for us. All through the entire evening the service was spectacular and the food was absolutely amazing, and we only had the early bird menus, can't imagine how the expensive ones are. This restaurant has to be tried!

  • Jim Edwards

    4 out of 5 stars

    Kinsale Restaurants

This restaurant was certainly popular when we visited on a Saturday night in September. We only had to wait for half an hour to get a table in the bar and we liked the busy yet relaxed atmosphere. The food was nice but quite pricey for a pub- around 16 Euros for a main course. Personally I didn't think it was special enough for the price. The...

  • Currans

    4 out of 5 stars

    Cork Restaurants

Not the cheapest option in Cork, but the food is good quality. Look out for set menus which get you a starter and a dessert on top for just a little more than the price of a main dish. Kitchen is international mainstream with a good variety of dishes. The only drawback is that the choice of beers was pretty weak – this is more a wine place. Get on...

  • The Spaniard Bar and Restaurant

    4 out of 5 stars

    Kinsale Restaurants

What's not to like? A gourmet restaurant and a great pub all rolled into one. You can enjoy fine dining in the restaurant with wonderful views of Kinsale, or you can go into the dark, woody pub and drink Guinness 'til closing. We chose the former. I seem to remember I had some excellently prepared trout with crabmeat filling. I probably should've...

  • Cafe Paradiso

    4 out of 5 stars

    Cork Restaurants

We were drawn to Cafe Paradiso on the strength of various reviews we had read, which suggested that something bordering on alchemy was taking place in the kitchen. We ate there a couple of weeks ago, and although it has a very pleasant ambience and we found some interesting combinations of flavours on the plate, both food and wine were wildly...

  • The Milk Market

    4 out of 5 stars

    Kinsale Restaurants

The Milk market is a cafe off Newmans Mall which is ideal for coffee and calorie laden goodies but is also ideal for a light lunch. They do an excellent range of savoury baguettes/toasted sandwiches for around 5-6 euro. Very popular and on sunny days it can be hard to get a seat outside. The BLT baguette, stuffed with crispy bacon , tomatoes and...

  • The Eastern Tandoori

    3 out of 5 stars

    Cork Restaurants

Visted here last week with husband. Upon entering, sat down in bar area opposite huge bowl of manky looking trail mix - not very hygenic....! while we chose our wine. We ordered popadums to start - these had been microwaved (!!) not fried as they should be and still had raw 'cardboardy' parts in it and came with a vivid green watery raita. I had...

  • The White House Pub

    Kinsale Restaurants

The White House Pub is a nice quiet pub with really great food. They have a nice sized and the atmosphere is very comfortable. We enjoy going to the pub side for a casual dinner while visiting Kinsale. Chargrilled Supreme of Chicken Served with roasted peppers and onion, a light tomato and garlic sauce, with gratin potato or fries. It is very good...

  • Probys Bistro

    Cork Restaurants

Good food in pleasant surroundings. The restaurant is near St Finbars Cathedral and the river with a mellow ambience. Full meals can be expensive here but the Early Bird Menu, available from 6.pm-7.30pm, is a more economical option. With this you can have a main course, glass of wine, and either a starter or desert for EUR25. In the summer Tapas...

  • Savannah Restaurant

    Kinsale Restaurants

Nice menu specializing in seafood and steaks. Their dining room is nice size with quite a few window tables that overlook the Kinsale Harbor. Each table is adorned with flowers and candles and the service is warm and friendly. Can be romantic dining if there is not a large bus tour dining the same night. If there is, it gets a bit rambucious. My...

  • The Mad Monk

    Kinsale Restaurants

Great place to go for a quick meal. Has tasty food and a nice menu with several specials each day. Great for lunches or dinners. Pub atmosphere. Warm chicken salad. It is a salad with chicken and a creamy dressing warmed. Really tasty. Full of veggies, and some grapes as well.

  • The Bulman

    Kinsale Restaurants

The Bulman is in Summercove, just down the hill from Charles Fort. It is definitely upmarket with prices to match. I have only eaten lunch there but they also serve dinner with an Early Bird offer for early diners. Seafood is the speciality here though they have a fairly comprehensive menu. Personally I think the food is overpriced but the dining...

  • Charles Fort Cafe

    Kinsale Restaurants

The cafe at Charles Fort is surprisingly good and surprisingly cheap. The lady who serves the tea and coffee is exceptionally friendly and has a chat wiith every single customer, regardless of language differences. If you're there really early you will see the scones, apple tarts and chocolate cake being delivered by the lady who bakes them....

  • Restaurants on Cape Clear Island

There are a few restaurants on Cape Clear Island. Near the harbour we saw three, all offering great views of the sea: one in the port with tables arranged outside, then a pub along the road up to your right ,and still another restaurant on the cliff right across the island facing another bay. We weren't hungry, but thought an ice cream would be...

  • Great Way To End A Night

After going out (both nights) headed straight to Hillbillies and there's nothing better than some of their chips and some chicken at 2-3am. On the second night (a Friday?) I had to queue for a bit because it's that popular (by this time all the clubs had closed). Just a bag of hot chips and a cold drink suites me fine.
