If you visit West Cork, and you are in the area of Schull, or perhaps you come across a wet day then here is a good idea. You can go and visit the Planetarium. It is found on the Colla road in the Schull Community College. It will show you the night sky under its domed ceiling where you can see all but the most southerly stars of the heavens, there are also video and slide facilities and many outdoor events are organised.
According to the brochure the Planetarium offers an all year round schedule of star shows, from one or two per month in the Winter to three or four per week in the tourist season.
Well worth a visit, I loved the place. My nieces and nephews did also.
Prices are reasonable. Starshows are 45 mins approx. and thus are unsuitable for most children under 7.
