Dunlewy Things to Do
NOT a film set.
If you saw this church on a film you would presume it was made of plywood and erected just for the movie. In it's stunning location perched at one end of the village with the volcano-like mount errigal behind it is hard not to take a great photo of the place (unlike me).
The church was built in exactly one year and has had little dome to it since. The stations of the cross have gained Irish wording rather than the original english - but that's about it. Many services are only conducted in Irish (like at a recent christening I attended). I somehow think it becomes more meaningful when you can't inderstand a damn word - especially when you get to 'tune in' to the lyrical quality of the Donegal accented irish tongue.
