    Pub Pub Pub !

    by Ipanema_Princess Updated Aug 11, 2005

Favorite thing: Ok... I must say the truth normally I'm not really a pub and beer lover. But Dublin's pub really made me change my mind.

It was one of the best party atmosphere I had ever seen, people are so friendly and talk to you really easily. And even if they're totally drunk they're still happy and funny.

The Guiness is a little strong for me, but still I tasted it because it's part of the fun. The pubs in themselves are very beautiful, and there's always some cool music going on.

I just can't wait to go back...

Fondest memory: All the girls dressed up for "Hen Parties" were so hilarious !! Especially a group of eldery women dressed in police uniform... that was unique !

    Welcome at the pub

    More of the Bank Pub

by Kentbein Updated Apr 26, 2004

Favorite thing: This was once one of Dublin's grand banks that went out of business. It was finally taken over by one of Dublin's architectural patrons and made into one of her finest pubs. The interior of the building retains it's banking history, complete with marble floors, walls, and one of the finest stained glass skylights in the city. It's a beautiful place to knock down an evening's pint while in Dublin.

    A Dub pub crawl

by tvdm Updated Mar 27, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: do a Dub pub crawl - me and my brother doing the very thing in this picture! This is a definite must-do here; start early in the afternoon in town somewhere and 'work' your way through Publin!

Make sure to check Dublin Pub Scene for all the best pub info!

Fondest memory: The openness of the people and their wonderful accent! You have to try and visit the city during the St Patrick's Day celebrations (around 17 March) and see the people go mad. The only way to survive all this is to join in the festivities; not a very hard task really ;-)

    Inside The Porterhouse

by Kentbein Written Dec 19, 2003

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: While we're here, we may as well go inside and grab a brew. A word of warning though. This is one of the few places in Dublin that does NOT serve Guinness! I swear it, there is in fact a pub in this city that refuses to stock the mighty Guinness. It's hard to believe, I know. It floored me too.

The Porterhouse prides itself (rightly so, too) on it's own fine brews. We happened to be there during Octoberfest, and they did import some of Germany's finest brews to honor our Germanic brothers and sisters, but the specialities of the house are their own superb brews, so this is a good place to sit back, relax, and be a little treasonous to the stalwart king of Ireland's breweries, Guinness!!!

    Dublin's irresistible pub culture

by agarcia Updated Apr 21, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Are Dublin pubs the city main attraction? Probably this is true for an overwhelming majority of Dublin's visitors, and I can be included in that lot ;-) After all, five million visitors a year couldn't be wrong, could they? The fact is that Dublin contains an outstanding and diverse collection of pubs, some of them unforgettable, some of them better to forget. Finding your favorite pub will be an interesting and certainly joyful activity during your visit.

Fondest memory: Listening a deliciously sad Irish ballad, while tasting a deliciously sour pint of Guinness… I can think in a million things worst than that ;-)
