Favorite thing: Ireland is famous for the good golf courses, so if you are into the golf, you should try once in here. This is the place where movie 'Far and Away' filmed. I think this shows the Irish atmosphere very much

Painting Irish people in green, white and orange

Fondest memory: In 1990 - just after the football world cup where Germany won - we came to Ireland who did really well in the world cup and everyone still was in football fever (read 'The Van by Roddy Doyle' about this! My favourite book!). So whenever we met someone in the pub we were asked 'And how do you feel as a world champion?' and we always replied 'We didn't play'. That's when we found out that the Irish are the friedliest people on earth!!!!!! :-)

Fondest memory: Celebrating the 'Millennium' - new years eve 1999/2000 at a free open air concert in Merrion Square. What a nice atmosphere, great concerts (David Gray, The Divine Comedy)!!! Afro Celtic Sound System were performing at midnight...sent me a shiver down my spine!!! It was the first time I was really happy again after a really bad year!!!

Fondest memory: Drinking a few bottles of wine and then sitting in front of my friend's house the night U2 played Dublin in 1997 singing along to their songs. To hear the music better we used my friend's hearing aids - she didn't hear anything anyway !!!

Favorite thing: You have to cross one of many bridges as the river Liffey runs through the city centre, and acts like a border and split Dublin in to North and South. The river rises in the Wicklow mountains near Poulaphuca , south of Dublin. it enters the Irish Sea at Dublin Bay. It is over 120 Km long. The sights along the Liffey include the National Museum, Customs House and Guinness Brewery.

Fondest memory: This is a glimpse of how busy Dublin gets during the Christmas period. The weather for the second half of December is kinda...brrr... chilly. But for the first half of December, the weather is FANTASTIC.

Fondest memory: Strolling along the River Liffey here in December can be quite an experience too. Fortunately for me, the weather this particular December (2001) is considered mild. In fact, the Dubliners call it their 'warmest' December. :-)

Can you spot the Clarence Hotel owned by the world famous Irish band - U2? No? Squint harder!

Favorite thing: If the weather's good, just stroll around town and appreciate the architecture...here's a few pictures to start with...i still have to take more areas and scan them!

Fondest memory: The Liffey is the river crossing Dublin into 2 very definite parts, the North and the South, the latter (although it's not as clear as before) having the best reputation. You can know where places are located with the postcode: odd numbers are in the North and even numbers are for areas on the South side of the Liffey.

The sunset from the bridges are usually worth the look...

Ireland is very GREEN and the sky can be very GRAY. However when it stops raining the clouds often give way to the beautiful BLUE sky (as on this photo).

Favorite thing: Dublin is a city that holds very dear memories in my heart.
I have now spent some time in both summer and winter in this wonderful country .
Arriving this time in winter in minus 5c and finding snow is something I will never see in december in my own country so it was very special despite knowing my own home was 40c on the same day.

Fondest memory: that temp was the coldest I have ever been in and they tell me it was the first settled snow in 9 years in Dublin.
Dublin holds so many great memories to me I wouldn't be able to begin.
just being able to return was a pretty awesome feeling for me.

    O'Connell Bridge

Favorite thing: When you get to Dublin on a rainy & cloudy day you think that your trip is going to be spoilt by the damn weather --Well, none of that happens. Despite the bad weather, Dublin is a fantastic, eclectic city, and you get to like it as it is...

Fondest memory: I remember that night at the Gogarty Pub, singing songs with a group of drunk & friendly Scots and chatting & sharing memories with a couple from Philadelphia and a guy from Glasgow. We had such a great time I'll never forget that day.
