Flannery's Temple Bar perhaps would be the most pictured pub in Dublin. This is in the heart of the Temple Bar district on the corner of Temple Lane. This is a small three-room pub established in 1840. Has a decoration both in and outside very picturesque with a bright red color. There's live Irish music daily.

I usually got here too late to hear the live music, but it's a pretty good place to head after the other pubs in the area close. Every night, it is open until 2:30am and draws a mixed crowd of tourists, local workers, and other people who aren't ready to end the night at 11pm. Also has an upstairs restaurant with a live band that plays later, but I met enough people to keep me busy on the first floor during my stay there.

Yup, I know it's a tourist thing. Even so, the Temple Bar is a fun place-- beer garden, live music, tons of people looking to talk, drink and sing. In November, it was decorated to the hilt for the holidays and the bartenders had no gripes about making up Irish coffees and other hot drinks. The music was good,
Is it authentic and local? Not really...but I still highly recommended visiting it.

The recent surge of popularity has made Irish dancing a crowd favorite. An enthusiastic group enjoyed watching this group. There are LOTS of pubs in Temple Bar (which makes it a noisy area to stay - unless your under 30 don't even THINK of staying in Temple Bar!)
But for an evening out it can't be beat. Check at the Suffolk Street tourist info center to see where the live music will be.

Temple Bar is both a pub and an area in Dublin that is lined with top pubs, bars and resturants.
The Bar itself is fairly traditional, with lots of little pokey rooms as well as bigger ones. It's a great place to start.
The area is pakced with other pubs and bars. Just head into one depending on what you are after - you will have a great night out in any of them.
Dress Code: It is illegal to smoke in any workplace in Ireland - including pubs. Great for non-smokers as you don't come out a the end of the night reeking.

My regret was that I didn't get to do an evening tour of the Temple Bar area. Being of advanced age I was totally exhausted by evening and could think of nothing better than, dinner, a pint, and bed. Another hinderance was the fact that I was staying out of the downtown area and had a lengthy train ride to my quarters.
According to the guide books there are many music tours one can take, but many don't operate in January, I was told. At any rate, when I return I'm going to make sure I take one night to experience the "Bar." I need to see if it's really as seedy as I've been told.

Yes, I had to do a tip on Temple Bar, as it is the centre of Dublin Nightlife.
Quite nice by day, the cobbled streets of Temple Bar turn into a magnet at night for plenty of very drunk tourists and a fair few locals as well. By night, I read it described as 'Temple Barf' !!
There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, so eat, drink and be merry, and soak up some Dublin culture!
Dress Code: Keep it comfortable and wash and wear, so you can hose yourself down!

Temple Bar has been made famous internationally because U2 own a hotel here called the Clarence Hotel. It is a large area of shops, bars and restaurants. Also to be seen here are street musicians and entertainers, along with cinema and art galleries.
Definetly the place to go for late night action!

We found this bar to have the most charm in the Temple Bar area.
Although you enter into the street level bar firstoff don't waste any time before you head straight up to where the action is at... on the first floor.
Here every night you'll be treated to some of the best Irish pub music around.
Nothing flash and formal, just a few guys sitting around playing their instruments in a small area. The scene is just so Dublin.
Dress Code: No drunken louts. Just drunken beer songs.
