Johnnie Fox's, Dublin

Johnnie Fox's is set in the Dublin Mountains and is reowned for being one of the highest points on every visitors list for a true Irish experience. You can enjoy delicious sea food, booking is advisible, listen to traditional Irish Music, set dancing and ballads. Although a bit of a tourist trap its well worth the visit for the view alone. Tons of photographs to gaze at and lots of bric a brac. A lot of famous people have visited this pub, hence the photographs. It gives you a good insight into Irish History. Saturday and Sunday afternoon's if the weather is nice is a good time to go. Be sure to take lots of money with you. A pint of Guinnes will set you back 4.80 and although the food is delicious mostly seafood, prices for a starter are around 8 euro up to 12. Main courses from 18 euro to 45 euro. Special buses do pick ups from certain hotels at 10 euro return.

I fail to see why this tourist trap gets high marks. My Ireland tour group was strongly encouraged by the tour operators to pay the substantial price for a dinner and a show (we paid about 45 euros and it did not include drinks) on our last night. Convinced that it would be a great time, everyone on the tour went.

We arrived and were packed in like sardines at our tables. I'm skinny and wasn't carrying anything and it was still hard to even get to my stool, it was so tight. I have no idea how the waitresses did it carrying the meals. Eventually the food came and it was fair at best. No one seated near me was at all impressed with their meal. Some of the entertainment was good, not great, and some of it was not so good. For the price it was a decidedly 2nd rate show though. Nevermind having to put up with the crowd of middle aged tourists at the next row of tables over who kept standing up, doing the wave, and yelling the same thing (Ole!) during every single pause of the show until we wanted to beat them with our stools just to make them stop. :-P

There have got to be some better traditional Irish music and dance shows in the area for the price of Johnnie Fox's or less.

Many Irish people frequent Jonny Fox's nightly so you will have to fight with the locals for a place at the bar or a seat at one of the tables if you want to eat!
Don't for the River Dance show nightly during the Summer months

I took off into the Wicklow Mountains and we ate at Johnny Fox's pub. The pub is at the highest location in Dublin and the lobster bisque soup is awesome. The drive is a winding, beautiful one, with a waterfall not far from the location. We stopped and took a walk around.

We visited Johnnie Fox's Pub on a recent visit to Ireland when taking the Rural Pub Tour,
although we didn't have dinner here or visit the show. We really enjoyed spending time at this pub, there is plenty to keep you busy as you wander around this old pub.
I'm not sure how you would get up their from Dublin as we were on a day tour, but I say its well worth a visit.

we came here for a family meal last week and it was lovley. ALL the food we got was delicious.
The Staff are freindly and polite and we really enjoyed ourself. i recommend this pub to anybody its very interesting .
