not so much *at* as *on the way to*
On that same stroll out to Kilmainham Jail which made me aware of the wildlife in the immediate area, I encountered this old military cemetery. Yes sirree, pubmaster, another $!#&*% cemetery, she found another cemetery, what are the chances?! hehehehe...
kind of arty-looking these days
*****When you're on your guided tour of this infamous jail, listen to the narrator's true tales and let it sink in that you are standing on some very sacred ground, blood has been shed here and history has been made and changed here. But now a cell's interior has a more serene look to it really...*****
can you stand one more Kilamainham, errr, view?
To paraphrase one of the experts, Kilmainham Jail has become in fact, one of the most beaten paths in Dublin. But that doesn't mean you have to see and record the same images as the last 10,000 folks who tramped across these gravel yards. Pause and snap, for example, in the back courtyard area here, the site of many an execution, generally by firing squad. Makes you think, at any rate.
Kilmainham Jail is a harrowing and intense place to visit. You're immediately hit with how cold this jail is, how cramped the conditions and how eery it must have been. It definitely leaves an impact and well worth a visit on the grounds of learning Irish history and seeing a real Victorian jail in all it's glory (and being able to leave).
If you are interested in the Irish struggle for independence from Britain, then a visit to the Kilmainham Jail is an absolute must. You can see the jail cells of the men and women who ended up here during Ireland's long struggle for freedom and walk through the courtyard where many men lost their lives including in particular after the Easter Rebellion of 1916. You will leave a little sadder, but much more well informed than when you entered. Located just south of Dublin city center on Inchicore Road in Kilmainham, Dublin 8.

Kilmainham Gaol. It´s a museum...
Kilmainham Gaol. It´s a museum now and there are guided tours. You really should see this. I can´t explain a single reason why I was crying when I came out of there. Maybe you too will see or sense why if you only go there. But I just can´t explain it. I just can´t. You have to experience it yourself.
