You can't go to Dublin without going here. It costs around 10euros and you get a free pint of stout at the end. There's a "Gravity Bar" on the top floor with a GREAT view of Dublin. You don't actually see any Guinness being made though, and the museum itself piles on loads of info. Even though the museum is pretty interesting and modern and even though I list this as a must see, that's only because I don't want you to have to explain to your friends why you didn't go.

  • Directions: West-Dublin. Maps you get will probably show more than one "Guinness" location there. Head for the Guinness Storehouse.

  • This is definately a 'must see' attraction in Dublin even if you don't like the black stuff, as i'm, sure most people would know!! The brewery has 7 floors of a self guided tour. The Sky Bar at the top is a great bar to be in. One tip - get there early AND prebook tickets on the internet, as you could imagine the place gets rammed quickly & early - just like most other major attractions anywhere. We got there at about 10.30 and waited 10 mins to get in. Once in there was a huge queue for tickets, luckily we has pre booked tickets (advantages of having family there) so skipped this queue.

This is where you go to see how "mother's milk" is produced. The old brewery of Guinness is no longer in use but it outlines the process of making the world's best stout and gives you the opportunity to sample the perfect pint in the perfect location, the Gravity Bar.

The displays are all arrange din a building shaped like a giant pint glass standing 30 meters high with the Gravity Bar at the very top giving a good panoramic view of Dublin.

  • Many of the local VTer's tips will tell you that visiting the Guinness Brewery is a waste of time and money. I actually disagree.

It's a great historical site that offers a glimpse of the brewing process, with a bit of Dublin history thrown in. The tour finishes at the Gravity Bar, with a complimentary 'pull' of Guinness, and the best view of the city.

  • We toured Guinness because well thats what we do.

My favorite part of the tour was when you get to the level with all the advertising banners in the ceiling. One of them had a HUGE grammatical error. That although we all make them more often than we care to admit I found funny that it had made it past all sorts of checks before being hung for all to see.

The view alone from the bar at the top is worth the tour. Defintely should not be missed. I can assure you a certain VT friend who doesn't even like Guinness is VERY happy she didn't miss it.

  • visit the Guinness brewery. It's a bit pricey nowadays: EUR12 for adults, cheaper for students, groups and kids; but you get a cool souvenir and a complimentary pint!
The exposition is very interesting and the setting is really cool: neo-industrial architecture and to top it all there's the Gravity Bar. Soaring over Dublin city centre you have the best 360-degree view to savour your pint of Black Stuff!

  • Visit the Guinness brewery. I was surprised by the industrial constructions of steel and integrations of the museum.
And of course drink a pint of Guinness in the bar where you have a beautiful view over Dublin.

Guinness Brewery: Sampling the black stuff
  • Tip Rating:
  • I've always considered that it is great shame that you can't see the internal workings of the Guinness brewery on a visit to the site. At one point in the exhibition a row of kegs on the production line passes through, but that is about it.

Your 14 euro (10% discount on-line) does however buy you entry to the Guiness storehouse with an absolutely first rate exhibition of brewing and the Guiness story spread out over several floors.

The exhibition, I believe, is the most visited tourist attraction in Ireland - the power of that black stuff is overwheming.

There are several highlights, including an old safe with the secret yeast recipe in. They still have a real one elsewhere on site, just in case a national disaster happens and the brew becomes contaminated. The exhibition about cooperage (making barrels) is especially well done. I rather liked the tradition that an apprentice after several years learning his trade would be 'initiated'. This consisted of putting him in a barrell of his own construction, filling it with anything revolting and disgusting that the qualified coopers could lay their hands on and then rolling it about in the yard for an hour or so. Delightful.

The real highlight is the glass of Guinness in the 'Gravity Bar' at the top of the building. It's worth going to the Guinness storehouse just for the view out over all of Dubin.

P.S. The black stuff still tastes better in Mulligans than at the brewery itself.

Take a tour around the guinness brewery and guinness museum. Here they produce 2 and a half million pints of stout daily.
Arthur Guinness was the founder in 1759 and at one time the largest brewery in the world.
