I actually thought the Guinness storehouse tour was rather disappointing - you only see a museum and certainly not any aspect of the operating factory/brewery. That said its a sorta "a thing one does in Dublin" and the view from the bar over city is nice and you get a "free" guinness for a rather high entrance fee .... There is also a pleasent cafe there where you could get lunch - I enjoyed their Irish stew which naturally had guinnnes in it. So conclusion go their for a pint of guiness and reasonably priced lunch and youll enjoy ... go to see guiness being made and you wont !

The admission fee is not cheap (14€/ adult), but I think it the visit is worthwile. The premises are huge and the brewery open to the public has several floors, along which you learn a lot about the beer production and all what relates to the 'Guiness World' (advertising, presence, Guiness book, etc..).
At the top of the building there is a circular bar where you can drink a Guiness or soft drink (included in the admission fee) and enjoy the great views of the city.

This was a highlight of the trip. The place is huge and modern inside, and well worth the tour. The view from the bar on the roof after the tour is incredible. The tour includes a free pint, and Guiness really does taste the best straight from the factory.

Fun place. Lots to see and take in. Last 2 floors not as impressive as the rest, whizz through those eg the adverts. Opens 9:30am - went early and we avoided the crowds.
Need at least an hour, then make way up to the Gravity Bar for yr free pint. Very nice views of Dublin, prob best views of Dublin.
The souvenir is good idea - i wont say what it is, itd spoil the surprise!

We toured Guinness because well thats what we do.
My favorite part of the tour was when you get to the level with all the advertising banners in the ceiling. One of them had a HUGE grammatical error. That although we all make them more often than we care to admit I found funny that it had made it past all sorts of checks before being hung for all to see.
The view alone from the bar at the top is worth the tour. Defintely should not be missed. I can assure you a certain VT friend who doesn't even like Guinness is VERY happy she didn't miss it.

If you’ve toured breweries before, it’s hard to justify the 15 Euro cost of the self-guided tour of the Guinness Storehouse and brewery. It’s a slick operation to be sure, but, as Dublin’s top tourist attraction, it’s also as touristy as it gets. The brewery’s saving graces are the “free” samples to be had along the way and the “free” pint at the brewery’s Gravity Bar, which, coupled with panoramic views of the city, is pure bliss.

the guinness storehouse is a 1904 listed building that covers almost four acres of floor space over six floors built around a huge pint glass atrium. in 1759 arthur guinness started brewing ale but became aware of a black beer popular in london called porter. porter was named after the porters at billingsgate and covent garden markets. guinness decided to brew porter in ireland. today guinness is the largest brewery in europe. guinness also produces harp lager and smithwick's ale. the guinness storehouse conducts a very interesting tour which covers the history of the guinness brewery. for lovers of dark beer this is a pilgramage.

Guinness Storehouse, "the home of Guinness", is Dublin's most popular tourist attraction. Though no longer the largest brewery in the world (it was on 1914), it is still the largest brewer of stout in the world.

Okay I will say it straight out. I was a little disappointed with the Guinness Storehouse brewery tour. I've done the brewery tour at Busch Gardens, Tampa, FL and the Miller Brewery tour in Milwaukee, WI and I guess I was expecting the same or little more from Guinness. This unlike the others is a self guided tour which means you follow the signs and listen to the recordings/videos. It was interesting because stout is made a bit differently from lager and pilsner but I dont know... it just lacked something. Once you got past the "How it's made" part the "tour" fell flat. I think part of the problem was such a big building and so much vacant space. Some exhibits certainly didnt justify being on their own floor and werent worth seeing at all. I guess they killed time as you made it up to the Gravity Bar for your free pint. Once you are there though you wonder how much a free pint is worth after a €14 admission (or 10% if you buy your tickets online a head of time) and a bunch of semi-vacant floors.
If you've done a brewery tour before you can skip it and just hit the nearest pub for a pint of Guinness and if you want souvenirs there is a Guinness shop on Westmoreland St or any gift shop carries the same really. If you are a big lover of Guinness then you would probably enjoy the tour more than most. As for myself I fall in the middle, I enjoy Guinness and feel, despite how negative the review above seems, quite neutral on the Guinness Storehouse experience.

This is definately a 'must see' attraction in Dublin even if you don't like the black stuff, as i'm, sure most people would know!! The brewery has 7 floors of a self guided tour. The Sky Bar at the top is a great bar to be in. One tip - get there early AND prebook tickets on the internet, as you could imagine the place gets rammed quickly & early - just like most other major attractions anywhere. We got there at about 10.30 and waited 10 mins to get in. Once in there was a huge queue for tickets, luckily we has pre booked tickets (advantages of having family there) so skipped this queue.
